The Lunar Imaging Lab TIME: 8:45-9:30 pm, Thursday April 10, 2014 PLACE: Oxford Campus Soccer Field LUNAR PHASE: Waxing Gibbous, 83% illuminated, 10 days old. ![]() Voyager4.5 view of the night sky at 9:20pm on Thursday April 10, 2014. Due South is in the middle of the picture. The Moon will be high in the sky, in the Waxing Gibbous phase, with 83% of its surface illuminated. We use the Nexstar 8" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, and a Canon T3i DSLR camera, to image the Moon. LAB PROCEDURE 0. Click on and download the "Waxing Gibbous Moon" image below. (Note that if you are not totally happy with your Moon pictures, you can use of of the ones labeled Class-Moon below. 1. Label features on your Moon image. Open up Powerpoint, put the Moon image on a blank powerpoint slide. Your goal is to label as many features on the Moon as you can. Refer to the Map of the Moon image below for reference.
